VARENNES
The city of Varennes, located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River and the island of Montreal, is part of the CMM and the administrative region of Montérégie. It is bounded on the east by the municipalities of Sainte-Julie and Saint-Amable, on the south by the borough of Boucherville (Longueuil), on the north by the municipality of Verchères and on the west by the St. Lawrence River.
Its territory, with an area of 94.89 km2, offers a harmonious mix of different assignments; agricultural, residential, commercial, industrial heavy and light. This area represents 27.2% of that of the Marguerite-D’Youville MRC, because of its proximity to Montreal.
In Varennes, more than 55 million square feet are to be developed in the white zone. It has one of the lowest tax rates in the metropolitan area.
